Our Summer Term started with parents, guardians and carers coming into school for their termly Parent Consultation Meetings. It was a tremendous success, as teachers and teaching partners were able to speak on the strengths and areas for the improvement of each child.
Our students have displayed exceptional creativity by using recycled materials to craft innovative and imaginative 3D crafts. The Eco and Nature Council challenged the children to create these crafts as a way of promoting environmental awareness and responsibility among our students. The projects they presented were truly amazing, showcasing their remarkable effort and hard work. They used various recycled materials such as plastic bottles, paper, and cardboard, and incorporated technology, colours, themes, and much more. What was even wonderful was their ability to explain to the judges how and why they used the different materials to make their art work. Their commitment to sustainability was truly inspiring

On Tuesday, 6th February, the Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children participated in Pedestrian Training delivered by the STARS Team. The children were split into small groups and learnt about the road hazards and how to keep themselves safe when walking on the pavements and crossing roads, particularly busy ones. Once they received their initial training, the children put into practice all they had learnt on the model road inside the Infant Hall.

Reading is one of the top priorities for us at Brookside. Our pupils are given a range of opportunities to engage in reading throughout the day. To develop a passion and love for reading within the home, our parents, guardians and carers were invited to a ‘Stay and Read Workshop’ in Key Stages 1 and 2. Parents, guardians and carers were engaged in tips on how to read with their child and to properly complete the reading record.
Our topic for this term in Geography is ‘The Rainforest’. We have started off by finding out all about the locations of the Earth’s tropical rainforests and we have completed some detailed map work. The children showed great excitement in using the atlases and globes to find tropical rainforests located on or across the equator.
